Brief Introduction

The following paragraphs briefly summarize my credentials and experience. Much more detail is provided in my Curriculum Vitae (PDF).

Credentials and Education

Headshot of Dr. Robertson

I am a licensed psychologist in Kansas. My training in psychology occurred at the University of California at Santa Barbara, where I was granted the MA and PhD degrees. My internship in clinical psychology was completed at a Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in the Los Angeles area. My education also includes a doctoral degree from the School of Theology at Claremont where I studied media communication and ethical dimensions of contemporary social issues. Claremont describes itself as an “intentionally ecumenical theological school,” and is affiliated with the Claremont University Consortium (formerly known as The Claremont Colleges).

My career has included several professional roles: providing clinical services in a university counseling center, teaching university courses to both undergraduate and graduate students in psychology and education, advising graduate students, conducting groups and providing psychotherapy in a clinic serving professionals mandated to seek treatment (medical, legal, clergy, etc.), and maintaining a private practice in psychology since 1991. During this time, I have presented regional workshops and national symposia to other psychologists, conducted peer-reviewed research, published the findings in scientific journals, written book chapters, and authored a full-length book for the Series on Counseling and Psychotherapy with Boys and Men, published by Routledge. A list of these presentations and publications is included in my Curriculum Vitae.
